Calling all poppers, dance and movement lovers!

In this masterclass, we will explore the effects of Animation and creating illusions and stories within our dance. Imagination is key as this will be the starting point, next to working on the technical aspects of the movements to give these images shape.
Animation, a big sub-style of Popping, is meant to simulate an animated character moving frame-by-frame. The technique involves isolation and contraction of different muscle groups to create a stop-motion illusion. We will play with things such as;
Intention, Character, Musicality, Dynamics, Slow and slowed motion
Balance, Shapes, Timing, Creativity
Combined these aspects will create the ‘’How is that possible?!’’ effect and lets us improve in the art of animated and illusionary dance!

The masterclass will be given by Gil The Grid, who has years of popping experience and uses animation in a very expressive and powerful way. Gil has a unique way of moving and his animation skills are a big part of his ability to tell stories through dance the way he does.

After 3 hours of diving deep, there will be an Open Movement Session. Free practise with space for you to jam, exchange and move however you feel like!
This practice session is open to all, so also people who didn’t join the masterclass.
And of course, we will provide you with some good tunes!
