Trio Mandili wordt gevormd door drie jonge vrouwen uit Georgië die met hun pure muziek, passie en eenvoud miljoenen harten hebben veroverd over de hele wereld. Het drietal brengt traditionele Georgische polyfonie, zacht, gelaagd en loepzuiver gezongen, met teksten die verhalen over vrede en het schilderachtige Georgië.
Wat begon als een spontane video tijdens een wandeling in een Georgisch dorpje, ging viral en groeide uit tot een wereldwijd fenomeen. Als in een sprookje veranderde de video het leven van de meisjes drastisch; binnen twee weken werd het bekeken door miljoenen mensen. Vandaag de dag heeft Trio Mandili meer dan 1,35 miljoen volgers op Facebook en 1,7 miljoen op YouTube, en met vier eigen albums groeit dit aantal elke dag. De naam Mandili verwijst naar een traditioneel vrouwelijk sjaaltje, symbool van zachtheid én kracht: vroeger werd zo’n sjaal op de grond gegooid om vrede te stichten tussen strijdende mannen. Precies dat doen deze drie vrouwen – met hun muziek brengen ze rust, eenheid en emotie.
