Description
Social Entrepreneurship in South Africa.
4 well-known South African speakers come and tell their story of how they built their social enterprise. A ticket will be €7,50, and all the raised money will go directly to the charity foundation "Out of Africa Children's Foundation"!
Our speakers are:
Kim Highfield: founder of the Out of Africa Children's Foundation. The OOACF was established in 2007, inspired by Kim's personal and profound experience with cancer. Her daughter was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 3 years and is now a cancer survivor, living a normal healthy life. OOACF is an NGO that strives to improve the quality of life for children facing life-threatening and terminal diseases throughout South Africa.
They also provide accommodation for the direct families of ill children from out of the Cape Town area during the child's hospitalization and recovery. With patrons like Desmond Tutu, they try to make South Africa a better place for children.

Sihle Tshabalala: Sihle, Co-founder and CEO of Quirky 30 NPC and Quirky Innovations, is an ex-offender. During his time in prison, he became a key member of the Group of Hope program (a prisoner initiated project that changed prison rehabilitation in SA), where he decided to spend his life helping others avoid the mistakes he had made. Since leaving prison, he co-founded Brothers for All, taught himself how to code, and has become a key voice in his community and a game-changer in teaching high school dropouts, teenage moms, unemployed youth, ex-offenders, and offenders things like Computer Programming/Coding, Entrepreneurship, and Digital Marketing. He spoke widely on TV and radio, presented at the Durban AIDS conference, was awarded the 2014 LeadSA’s Hero, Mail and Guardian 200 Young South Africans award, 2015 Spark Changemaker award, 2016 WSA International Speaker, Juror and Mentor, 2016 TEDx Fellow, and a Levi's Pioneer Nation speaker.

Lesley Burt: Mr Burt worked in factories for over 9 years, straight out of high school. One day he woke up and decided he wanted something else. He went to college and got himself a job at a school. After throwing himself on football and becoming second nationally with his team, he started coaching the sports teams at school. From there he built up a network of connections, which got him a job at the City of Cape Town, where he now works with social entrepreneurs to build a better Cape Town.
Brandon Timmy: Brandon, coach, and owner of the Belmont Spurs Football Club, started the club when he saw many of the kids and friends in his community abandoning their dreams due to e.g past failures, lack of support from families and substance abuse. This was his motivation to bring a change in his community, and inspire the next generation to fufill their purpose in life. Today, many of their lives have been changed through the club.
Their goal is to unearth and nurture the future South African Footballing stars. Their objective as a club goes beyond the boundaries of football, with "Youth being the future" being the mandate to instill within them the necessary life skills (Respect, Discipline, and Humility) to help them and the community.
