In ‘Die Ik Ben’ duikt Kirsten met de nodige (zelf)spot in het gangenstelsel van ons brein, een labyrint waarin je snel vastloopt en waaruit ontsnappen moeilijk (b)lijkt. Waarom doen we wat we doen en zeggen we wat we zeggen? Waarom vinden we het moeilijk om eerlijk en oprecht te zijn, naar onszelf en onze omgeving? Waarom verschuilen we ons maar al te graag veilig achter de muren van ons ego en doen we ons voor als iemand die we eigenlijk zouden willen zijn? Intussen voelen wij ons verre van gelukkig en dempen we onze onrust en eenzaamheid door te zoeken naar voortdurende afleiding of een bezoekje aan de zoveelste therapeut.
‘Die Ik Ben’ rekent af met dromen over morgen en mijmeren over gisteren. Want is het leven niet veel eenvoudiger als je de realiteit zoals die zich aandient, accepteert zoals die is? En is contact niet wezenlijker als je je gekend weet zoals je écht bent?
