Zaterdag 11 maart opent de tentoonstelling ‘Mental journey’ in galerie Details. In deze
tentoonstelling zijn de zelfportretten van kunstenares Mariken Heijwegen te zien. Heijwegen heeft met eerder werk al naam gemaakt in de kunstwereld. Ze is aangesloten bij galeries in onder andere Florence, Sao Paulo, Londen, Athene, Rome, Texas, New York, Berlijn en Barcelona.
Binnenkort is haar werk te zien bij Carrousel du Louvre in Parijs. Met haar solo-tentoonstelling ‘Mental journey’ zal ze voor het eerst exposeren in Nederland.
De portretten van Mariken Heijwegen weerspiegelen gevoelens van angst, ongerustheid en onzekerheid. Op donkere momenten brengt ze laag voor laag haar emoties aan op het doek, totdat er een persoon op het schilderij zichtbaar is. Die persoon is zij zelf.
“Soms gebeurt er ontzettend veel in een hoofd en weet niemand, behalve jij, wat daar aan de hand is. Het kan donker, eng zijn, gevuld met angsten en twijfels, obstakels en alles wat, denk ik, menselijk is.” - Mariken Heijwegen
Heijwegen wil de wereld laten zien dat je je niet hoeft te schamen voor een psychische
aandoening. Met haar werk hoopt ze taboes te doorbreken en de dialoog aan te gaan.
Onder het genot van een drankje en muziek zal de tentoonstelling op 11 maart worden geopend.
Het evenement is gratis en voor iedereen toegankelijk.
Om de drie maanden krijgen nieuwe kunstenaars de kans om bij Details te exposeren. Zo waren er eerder exposities van Suzanne Harkhoe, Kasper Tinus en Dietrich van Gobbel. Details biedt ook een platform aan ontwerpers van mode en accessoires en heeft daarnaast een eigen kledinglijn en een rijke collectie aan vintage mode.
De tentoonstelling ‘Mental journey’ is t/m 10 juni 2023 te bewonderen.
