Tijdens deze aflevering van Bike & City kijken we naar 'Mannen van Staal', een film van Matthieu van Landweer. De film is een ode aan het meest bekende Amsterdamse frame (RIH Sport) en de stalen koersfiets in het algemeen. In de film volgen we de 78-jarige Amsterdamse fietsenbouwer Wim van der Kaaij (1936-2014). Hij leerde als 12-jarig jochie het ambacht in de Westerstraat bij de gebroeders Bustraan. De stalen RIH's worden nog steeds gemaakt en gebruikt, maar zijn ondertussen ingehaald door allerlei nieuwe fietsinnovaties. Lukt het Wim om een geschikte opvolger te vinden en het ambacht over te brengen op een nieuwe generatie? Na de film gaan we over dit laatste in gesprek, met o.a. zijn opvolger Lester Janssen. Hoe draag je een (fiets)ambacht over, of hoe leer je die juist van iemand?
