In maart 2016 ontmoet een Nederlandse indieproducer, bekend van zijn werk met o.a. Blaudzun, John Coffey, Klangstof en Dazzled Sticks, backstage bij de 3FM Awards een op het oog wat weerloze jonge zangeres. Ze blijken een gemeenschappelijke liefde voor hiphop te hebben en de producer besluit om haar naar zijn studio te lokken.
In de studio blijkt de zangeres lang zo weerloos niet en ze spuugt de ene track na de andere op band en in de daaropvolgende weken en maanden vliegen per mail beats, raps, refreintjes en mixen over en weer. Een dik half jaar na hun eerste ontmoeting is het tijd om de buitenwereld kennis te laten maken met de trippy elektro hiphop van Fata Boom. In november 2016 kwam single D.D.D. (Drop Down Deep) uit met een clip gemaakt door Sander Kloppenburg, aka Glitterende Eenhoorn. Denk aan M.I.A., Die Antwoord, Gnucci, Missy Elliot, UFFIE en Azealia Banks.
De single bracht Fata Boom voor hun eerste show wordt in de Melkweg in januari 2017. Een week later stond de act op het prestigieuze Eurosonic Noorderslag Festival.
Een jaar na de eerste ontmoeting volgt debuut EP ‘BOA’. Hard en gevaarlijk pakt Fata Boom je bij de strot en verslindt je met huid en haar, maar niet zonder glitter & glamour. Met zes tracks laat Fata Boom zien wat je dit festivalseizoen van ze kan verwachten. Harde tracks met een feestelijk randje.
