Description
◑ WORKSHOP: Cyanotype Sun Prints
Language: English
The cyanotype process uses a mixture of iron compounds, which when exposed to UV light and washed in water oxidize to create majestic Prussian Blue images. During the workshop, we will walk you through every step of how to make cyanotype prints, and you will leave with a few sun prints or your own creation.
Flowers, plants, leaves, keys, glasses, scissors, or any object with a distinctive shape will create an impressive poetic image. We will prepare our selection for you, but feel free to bring your own objects as well!
Cyanotype was invented in 1841 by John Herschel and was popularized by photographer and botanist Anna Atkins. The book Photographs of British Algae: Cyanotype Impressions, published in October 1843, is considered the first photographically illustrated book.
