Laisvie Ochoa - Wolfe & Libertad

This multimedia performance addresses the female topic by combining choreographic and cinematographic ways of working to develop a unique type of dramaturgy. Drawing from personal experiences and literature review, the project dives into the notion that being a woman is a subjective and historical construction in order to question certain gender expectations that are still harming the place of women in society. Beyond the critic to the patriarchy system, the project aims to locate sources of strength and potency. In this manner, one source of inspiration is the voice of younger woman instigating social change through public speeches. Another source is the tale La Loba, presented by author Clarissa Pinkola Estes in her book Women Who Run With the Wolves. Therefore, the figure of the wolf functions as a trope (metaphor, simile, synecdoche, metonymy or and personification) to investigate female potency.
