Fleurine is zangeres, componiste, tekstschrijfster en autoriteit op het gebied van Braziliaanse muziek. Zij trad inmiddels 10 keer op, op het North Sea Jazz Festival. Nu hebben wij haar weten te verleiden tot een optreden op Wester-Amstel, gelegen aan dezelfde Amsteloever waar zij een deel van het jaar ook woont. Dit optreden is haar kick-off van haar nieuwe concert-serie ‘Vocal Jazz’, met optredens in onder andere de Birdland Jazz Club in New York en het Monterey Jazz Festival. Elsevier Magazine schreef over haar: “Fleurine bezit een stemgeluid dat klinkt alsof een engel bezit heeft genomen van de huiskamer”. En Trouw: “Diepgang, gevoel en techniek zijn allen overvloedig aanwezig bij Fleurine”. De in Nederland geboren, in Portugal opgegroeide polyglot, die de afgelopen 20 jaar in de VS woonde, werd de eerste zangeres die de teksten van de legendarische Chico Buarque in het Engels mocht vertalen voor haar betoverende Sunnyside release San Francisco uit 2008. Haar album ‘Brazilian Dream’ werd in 2019 genomineerd voor een Edison. U kunt meer over haar lezen op haar website www.fleurine.com.
Dit concert wordt georganiseerd door de vrijwilligers van de Stichting Vrienden van Wester-Amstel, in nauwe samenwerking met de Beroepsvereniging Improviserende Musici (BIM). Die viert haar 50-jarig jubileum. Samen organiseren zij een serie hoogwaardige en tegelijkertijd intieme concerten in de parkzaal van Wester-Amstel. Kaarten via Billetto kosten 15 euro per stuk, donateurs/vrienden van Wester-Amstel betalen 12.50. Kaarten aan de deur zijn respectievelijk 20 euro en 17.50 euro. Er is op het terrein voldoende gratis parkeergelegenheid.

Wester-Amstel is een buitenplaats uit 1662 en biedt een oase van rust, midden in de stad, midden op het platteland. Op een steenworp afstand van het drukke Amsterdamse stadsleven geniet u van het buitenleven op één van de mooiste plekjes van het groene Amstelland.
